By Farhan Azim, IT Business Analyst Intern
This summer, I had the incredible opportunity to work as an IT Business Analyst Intern at the Pension Boards, where I not only developed my technical and analytical skills, but also experienced the value of a truly supportive and collaborative work culture. The people here have been nothing short of amazing, welcoming, and insightful.
Over the course of my internship, I strengthened my skills in statistical programming and data analysis by working with tools like Power BI and SQL, and enterprise platforms such as GoAnywhere, Azure DevOps, and NetSuite. I also gained a deeper understanding of how IT systems, data pipelines, and business intelligence come together to support organizational goals.
One of my main projects this summer was conducting a rate analysis to assess current and future medical plan rates based on different member tiers and ZIP code prefixes—analyzing, joining, and visualizing large datasets across multiple systems. I also worked on the vendor transmission process, streamlining the way data is packaged and securely shared with external partners. Additionally, I contributed to the Gender Report, helping to clean, aggregate, and illustrate gender-based workforce data to support internal diversity and equity initiatives.
This experience has been pivotal in shaping my technical growth and professional confidence. I’m grateful to be part of a team where learning is continuous, collaboration is valued, and the mission truly matters.
